China's autonomous driving technology company WeRide has successfully obtained an official operating license in the United Arab Emirates. WeRide's autonomous vehicles are classified as Level 4 autonomous driving, enabling them to operate almost entirely under computer control within designated operating environments. By comparison, Tesla's current autonomous driving systems are classified as Level 2, requiring continuous driver supervision and intervention when necessary.
