The Fiat Siena, which is produced in our country by the automotive manufacturer Sanat Pars Tappaco, is essentially the sedan version of the Fiat Palio. Fiat Italy, at the same time as Renault France was preparing the L90 for third-world markets, initiated a project for an affordable Fiat that could compete in these markets. In 1996, the Fiat Palio was born for the first time at Fiat’s automotive production facilities in Brazil. Like the Logan, this car is currently produced and assembled in numerous countries such as Argentina, India, Brazil, China, Turkey, Egypt, Iran, and others. Siena is originally the name given to the non-European versions of the Fiat Palio that have a trunk.

The Siena is a compact sedan designed to offer the practicality and affordability expected of an economical passenger car. To better understand its market positioning, it can be compared to the Kia Rio, as both models belong to the same segment. Originally introduced in 1996, the version marketed in Iran was the second facelift of the first-generation Siena. Production of this model continued in Italy until 2012, when the second-generation Siena was introduced. However, the newer generation was never officially offered in the Iranian market.

    Technical specifications

This car is equipped with a 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 1368 cc, capable of producing 77 horsepower. This power is transmitted to the front wheels through a 5-speed gearbox and can accelerate the Siena from 0 to 100 km/h in 13.5 seconds. The top speed of this car is 162 km/h. One of the reasons for this model’s failure in the Iranian market could be its low technical capability. Although the Siena’s small engine consumed only 6.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, its weight of 1100 kilograms prevented it from being a car with adequate acceleration and pick-up. Additionally, domestic cars like the 405 and Samand, with a lower price than the Siena, offered more power and space to customers, and considering that Iranian customers need family and spacious cars that can perform well on the country’s mountainous roads, the Siena did not seem like a very suitable choice. Of course, the higher quality of the Siena cannot be ignored.

    Design

One of the positive features of the Siena is its design. Although the Siena is an economical and affordable car, its design brings to mind a mid-range vehicle. However, in the side profile, the angles of the cabin and the doors look somewhat dated because, as mentioned earlier, the Siena’s design dates back to the mid-1990s, and in 2004, the second facelift was applied to the front and rear of the car. For this reason, the front and rear of the Siena look more modern compared to other parts. Overall, the Siena’s body design can be considered beautiful and very suitable for an economical car.

On the inside, the Siena also features a modern and decent design. It seems that the Fiat designers’ effort was to design all materials and dashboard parts in a way that makes this small car feel spacious. The Siena’s dashboard, although simple, is beautifully designed and offers acceptable quality for an economical car. Front passengers have adequate legroom, and the rear row is comfortable and suitable for people of average height. In terms of interior space, the Siena can be considered in the same class as the Rio.
